Pigeon Point Lighthouse – Using Gradual ND filter

Drive along the California State Highway-1 (CA-1) is very beautiful and has lots of vista points. This is one of the most famous visitor point located around 20 miles south of Half Moon Bay.

I waited around an hour for sun to set. The colors were quite beautiful in sky with sparse clouds and it was low tide. Hence I was able to go quite into the rock structure to get this picture. I used a gradual ND filter to lower the light intensity from sky (top-right corner) so that light becomes almost even everywhere and I don’t have to do HDR composition. Further ND filter improved the intensity of the colors.
